Flamingo Guesthouse

Flamingo Guesthouse

This small, exotic guesthouse lies in the Katulani area of Kitui. If you want a special experience and accommodation for your Kitui stay, this is it. The guesthouse can house up to 9 persons, and was opened July 2011. The three rooms are of different size, and are nicely decorated with Kamba creative arts.

While you are here, you will get a true insight of how the middle-class Kenyan life is lived today. The Flamingo guesthouse is privately run by the founder of the Flamingo Safari company. The guesthouse is specially aimed at visitors that wants to experience the everyday life of the Kenyan locals. The power is generated from a solar cell panel, and the water is fetched in the river close by. For showering, the traditional bucket is applied – and the toilet is a shed in the backyard with a hole in the ground, as in most Kenyan homes.

The price includes breakfast, lunch and dinner made in the traditional way, although you can choose to get the more westernized version if you choose so. As it is situated in a private property it is especially suitable if you are going to stay for a longer period and want familiar and private surroundings, with a cook and housekeeper.
If you like, they can also arrange an exotic BBQ where you will eat dinner around the bonfire in the dark, African night.

The staff is friendly, warm and happy to serve you – whether you want a foot massage, a guided tour around the area, or an informal chat about the African way of life. If you have other wishes, they will try their best to help you out.

A stay here is mandatory if you’re visiting the Kitui area, and you’re eager to experience the real Kenya!
