Ngwani

Ngwani traditional dancers is one of the larger groups with 56 members in total, included two males. The name of the group is based on the village of establishment, and the songs are made for pure entertainment.

The composer of the songs is the soloist, who’s said to be making her songs while sleeping. She can produce songs on request; all she need is some information on the topic, and the characters to be involved. When the whole number is completed, the composer teaches the dancers one by one – until they all know their moves – and eventually it’s all put together. This is very time consuming, but worth the result

They usually preform in weddings, functions or other local events – but also competitions. This has resulted in trophies more than once. Their shows are truly enjoyable and give a good insight to traditional African dancing!
